Matterport® Overlay for Guided Tours

TourGuide3D is an independent product and is not affiliated with Matterport, LLC.

TourGuide3D is a Matterport® overlay that adds guided tours, menus, tags, media and your branding on top of a Matterport® tour you already have.

What is a Matterport® overlay?

A Matterport® overlay is a layer of navigation, content and branding on top of an existing Matterport® tour, added without rescanning the space.

TourGuide3D is such an overlay, built for operators who deliver client projects. You add your client’s Matterport® tour, then build the overlay in your own Studio: a route through the space, a menu of places to jump to, information where it matters, and the client’s look. The scan stays in the Matterport® account where it was captured; TourGuide3D opens that tour in its own viewer and puts the overlay on top of it. Your client gets one link, or the tour sits embedded on their website.

What TourGuide3D adds

  • Guided tours

Build a route stop by stop. Each stop can carry up to six buttons that lead to another stop, a chapter, an external link or back to free exploring. Chapters work as a hub or as a sub-tour. An info panel can show an image, video, gallery, text or an embedded page.

  • Navigation menu and interactive map

A menu of places visitors can jump to, grouped in folders and given icons. Points can lead into other Matterport® models. The interactive map turns an uploaded 2D plan into clickable areas that open a menu point or a guided-tour chapter, and it can be embedded on its own.

  • Tags

Place tags with your own icons or pick from the icon library, in three sizes. A click can open a pop-up with text, an image, video, 360° view, audio, gallery or embedded page, follow a link, jump to a spot, or open the info panel of a guided-tour stop. You set how close a visitor has to be before a tag appears.

  • Media and audio zones

An audio zone is a 3D area that plays a sound file when a visitor walks in, with one file per language, a volume and looping. Place images and videos in the space, or add 3D models (GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, DAE) with lighting presets.

  • Languages

15 languages, including Arabic with right-to-left layout. AI translation (paid plan) covers guided-tour text, buttons, info panels, the menu, the tour title and the start screen. Visitors pick their language in the tour header, and the choice is remembered.

  • AI guide

A chat guide (paid plan) answers visitor questions from the tour and from PDF, TXT or Markdown files you upload, replies in the visitor’s language and can take them to the right stop or place. It can collect enquiries, with the visitor’s consent. The Live Avatar adds a talking video guide with real-time voice. Both run on prepaid AI credits.

  • Branding

Your logo, title and link in the tour header. A start screen with your image or video, title, colours and font. A favicon for each tour. The “Powered by TourGuide3D” badge goes away on the paid plan. With the White Label add-on ($9/month on top of the paid plan), your tours also run on your own domain, such as tours.yourcompany.com, and TourGuide3D branding is removed from the viewer, link previews, client portal, invitation page and emails to your clients.

  • Sharing and embedding

Copy a share link or the embed code for your client’s website. A custom link name such as /view/my-hotel and password protection are part of the paid plan. Links can open the tour in guided or explore mode.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Paste your Matterport® link

Add a new tour and paste the Matterport® share link or the 11-character model ID. TourGuide3D checks that the space exists and shows a preview with the tour name. The space needs to be public in Matterport®.

  2. Step 2

Build the overlay in the Studio

Open the Creator Studio in your browser and add what the project needs: a guided tour, a menu, tags, audio, translations. Changes save automatically, and there is no code to write.

  3. Step 3

    Share or embed

Send the link, or copy the embed code and paste the iframe into your client’s website.

Who it is for

  • You are a Matterport® operator or a property photographer delivering projects for hotels, museums, venues or real estate.
  • You want to hand over more than a plain walkthrough: a route, a menu, information at the right spots, your client’s look.
  • You want one link or one embed per client, in as many languages as the project needs.

TourGuide3D builds on Matterport® tours only. If you work with other 3D platforms, it is not the right tool.

What it costs

The free plan covers 1 active tour with the full tour viewer and a small “Powered by TourGuide3D” badge. Features marked as paid on this page, such as AI translation, the AI guide, password protection, a custom link name and removing the badge, come with the paid plan.

Questions

Does it change my Matterport® model?

No. The scan stays in your Matterport® account and TourGuide3D never edits it. The tour is loaded in TourGuide3D's own viewer through the Matterport® Showcase SDK, and the guided tours, menus, tags and settings are stored in TourGuide3D and drawn on top of the tour. Delete the overlay and the Matterport® tour is exactly as you left it.

Does it work with my existing tours?

Yes. Paste the Matterport® share link or the 11-character model ID, and TourGuide3D checks that the space exists and shows a preview. The space has to be public in Matterport®: a private or still-processing space is reported as such, and you switch it to public in Matterport® first. You do not rescan anything.

Can I embed it on my website?

Yes. Open the Share menu on the tour page and copy the link, or copy the embed code and paste the iframe into your client's page. The interactive map can also be embedded on its own.

Do I need to code?

No. You set everything up in the Creator Studio in your browser, and changes save automatically. Info panels and tags can show your own HTML or an embedded page, but that is optional.

What does it cost?

The first tour is free. The paid plan starts at $9 per month and covers up to 2 active tours; beyond that you pay per active tour, and the price per tour drops as you add more. The AI guide and Live Avatar run on prepaid AI credits, separate from the monthly price. You can cancel anytime.

Can visitors switch languages?

Yes. A tour supports 15 languages, including Arabic with right-to-left layout. Visitors choose their language in the tour header, which has to be switched on, and the choice is remembered. You write the translations or use AI translation, which is part of the paid plan.

Can I use more than one Matterport® model in one tour?

Yes. One tour can span several Matterport® models. Navigation menu points and guided-tour sub-tours can lead into other models, and visitors move between them from the same tour.
